The election this week went very well for Democrats. Carolina Forward has a good summary of the results here in North Carolina. We will have a Democratic senator, Democrats as 10 of our 14 representatives, and Democrats in control of the NC State House.
The 2026 election exceeded other “waves” like 2018 and 2010 in size and magnitude. One must go all the way back to 1994 to find an electoral shock that even remotely compares. Voters across the political spectrum registered their disgust at the political regime that currently controls Congress and the North Carolina State Legislature, and made a clear demand for change. Today is a new dawn for North Carolina’s politics.
